TelPlan will become available if 50 per cent of subscribers make three or more calls per month to an exchange within a 20 mile radius. If 25 per cent of the customers make three or more toll calls per month to a second exchange within that same radius. Circle Calling will also be offered. Unlike Centel which must wait until the necessary equipment is installed. C&P will begin immediately to provide Circle Calling to qualifying exchanges.
According to Jones’ data on point-to-point studies, Sperryville residents with “987” numbers do not qualify for either TelPlan or Circle Calling. Noting that he hasn’t yet received official information on Culpeper exchanges, including Rappahannock residents of Amissville and Castleton with “937” numbers, Jones predicted that both areas will qualify for TelPlan and Circle Calling.
He emphasized that Centel and C&P customers eligible for the toll call options will have to choose either one or the other, not both. Jones added that business phones will be charged the same rate for TelPlan and Circle Calling as are residential customers.
