During their sojurn in Virginia’s capital, Steve entered an apprentice carpenter’s program and later met Terry Waggener, another Rappahannock musician, through friends in Culpeper. Terry was restoring a cabin outside of Washington at that time and told Righter there were jobs in the county for him. “I didn’t like working on skyscrapers anyway so we moved up here,” Steve recalled.
