Mrs. Edward J. Hennessy, president of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs, opened the Rappahannock County Garden Club Flower show Sunday afternoon, May 24. The theme of the show, The Garden Gate Swings Wide, led to a beautiful decor, and exhibitors all entered into the spirit of the show.

The arrangements were magnificent, and there were 200 beautiful entries in the Horticulture class.

The show was judged by Mrs. Charles Stuart DeHaven and Mrs. R. Carter Beverly Jr. of Winchester, Mrs. R. Kells Griesbach, Mrs. James F. McDonald, Mrs. D. A. Robinson, and Mrs. L. F. Tribble of Charlottesville.

The clerks were Mrs. Virginia Smith, Mrs. Pauline Bruce, Mrs. Mary Frances Fannon and Mrs. Ruth Baumgardner.

The club expresses its appreciation to all those who entered who were not club members, and to thank the Sperryville Emporium for the loan of the urns and Blandy Experimental Station for the loan of the gazebo.

Ribbons were awarded to first, second, third and fourth place winners as follows:

Class 1: South River Club of Front Royal, Madison Club of Madison, Rappahannock
