Traffic accidents reported recently include a rear end collision near Huntly on May 12. Robert Earl Jordan of Flint Hill, operating a 63 Buick was struck by a Mack tractor-trailer rig:
According to Trooper R. A. Baines, both vehicles were southbound on Route 522 when Jordan stopped for a school bus and Bobby Gene Soutter of Culpeper was unable to halt the heavy rig.
Soutter was cited for reckless driving, the officer said. There were no injuries from the collision.
The following day on Route 211 at its intersection with the Shade Road west of Washington, a pickup and school bus made contact. The Rappahannock County School bus driven by Downing Hitt of Castleton was traveling west when it was struck by a 79 Ford pickup operated by William Allan Hale of Sperryville, according to Trooper Baines.
Hale was attempting to make a left turn onto Route 211 from Route 622 and struck the bus. There were no injuries and Hale was charged with failing to yield the right of way. Baines estimated damage of each vehicle at S500. May 13 on Route 642 near Amissville a single vehicle crash occurred. Winona Sue Ammons of Front Royal failed to negotiate a curve and flipped her 68 Dodge van, according to Trooper Baines. Ammons and her sister, Diane Elizabeth Ammons, were taken to Fauquier Hospital by the Amissville Rescue Squad. Charges are pending.
