Squirming, excited youngsters filled the couch in the health department on Friday as they waited their turn for examinations through the dental care program that was organized almost a quarter of a century ago by Mary Botts Quaintance.

“We operated it as often as we could find dentists to help," Mrs. Quaintance told the school board members last week after they voted unanimously to excuse children from class for visits to the dentist and to provide school vehicles for transportation.

This time around, dental care is being provided through the auspices of the health department and with $8,000 left in the Teachers’ Association Dental Program’s account used
