Faint Praise

To the editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that, at least as it appears to me, your reporting has recently become more accurate and even handed and, therefore, more professional. Congratulations!

Example: recently, in reporting on an interview with Delegate Andy Guest, the News reported him as saying that he would vote for the ERA amendment and for popular election of School Board members throughout the Commonwealth, should they come before the General Assembly.

Having just been with him and talked with him at Montpelier and at The Chimneys, I found it difficult to believe that the News had quoted him correctly. So did other local citizens with whom I discussed it.

So I said, "Let’s ask the man who knows”. So I called Andy in Front Royal. He confirmed your accuracy without hesitation! I didn’t even bother to call Catron in Luray to check on the accuracy of his interview. Your credibility had been proven!
