Not A Luxury
“Music is a' need, not a luxury," maintained Charlotte Nichols. “A music program will pay back the community many times over...We need music, art and drama," she insisted.
“We should think of our educational program as an investment, not a burden,” Nichols continued. "We're not wasting the money we spend on students and teachers. Our children are our only resource.”
Rappahannock County has good teachers, said Nichols, but they won’t stay if they can’t pay their grocery bills, bills that are going up all the time. Rappahannock has to “dig down" and come up with the money to fund a school budget that will keep teachers working in the county, she said. “I see in my child the wonderful job our teachers are doing here.”
