People who receive supplemental security income payments (SSI) because of disability now have more incentive to try and work, Bruce A. Hundley. Social Security manager in Culpeper, said recently.
In the past, a disabled person receiving SSI who was able to perform substantial gainful work had his or her check stopped. In addition, the person was ineligible for Medicaid and other social services.
Now, a person who works will continue to be eligible for SSI and Medicaid, although the amount of his or her check may be reduced because of the amount of earnings.
