This economic growth will mean greater job opportunities particularly for low and moderate income persons. — positive effect on the property values of all Sperryville residents. A local realtor estimates that real estate values will increase by 25 percent upon completion of the sewer system.
Notification of block grant awards should come in the first week of November, Capelle told the Rappahannock Supervisors, explaining that funds from that source and from EPA will be received at intervals during the construction of the system rather than in two big checks for $1.2 million and $478,193. Getting both the EPA and the community development grants will mean “there will be no local tax dollars in the Sperryville project," emphasized the planning district director who has been designated to manage and administer the two grants for the county.
“Will we have a guarantee in writing?" asked Supervisor H. B. Wood.
“You'll have a contract guaranteeing the funding." Capelle answered.
The vote on the resolution authorizing application for $478,193 in block grant funds was 4-0 with Wood abstaining.
Ex-POWs
A Shenandoah Valley Chapter of the Ex-Prisoners of War, Inc., is being organized.
The proposed Shenandoah Valley Chapter will include POWs from Lexington north to Winchester and Front Royal and east to the Charlottesville and Culpeper areas.
