Hawkins asked if the town could afford a dog warden. “We can afford whatever we absolutely have to.” said Miller There were several spectators in the audience but only two addressed the proposed dog ordinance. John Norman said that most of the dogs causing problems in town did not belong to town residents but belonged to people who came into town to patronize some of the "newer businesses".
“These people just allow their dogs to run all over town.” said Norman. “They have been a problem at my home, destroying flowers and bushes and frightening my tenants.”
Mary Ellen Burke asked. “Can't there be a countywide ordinance of this sort? Sometimes dogs come down out of the hollow in a pack. 1 don't think that most of the worst dogs are town dogs."
