Some good news for Rappahannock residents was announced at the briefing held at Germanna Community College last Friday to acquaint
the public with the transportation commission’s recommendations. The widening of Route 17 in Fauquier
County is included in the funding proposals, which upon completion will reopen the road to truck traffic.
The estimated price tag for that 9.1 mile project is $16 million.
The completion of that project and the reopening of Rt. 17 should
reduce the number of tractor-trailer trucks travelling the highways in
Rappahannock. Senator Miller said that he has been receiving “a lot of
