What is a disciple? Simply a follower of ones teaching. If we follow Jesus teaching, we are His disciples. Most Christians do not follow Jesus teaching for one reason or another. Some claim to be Christians and don't even read His word. So, how can they be a disciple. If you are not a disciple, you are apt to be missing the word of God so far that you think you are a Christian and you are not. Folks, going to church or joining a church does not make you a Christian, any more than standing in a barn makes you a mule. People, we are in the last days. It is time for all God’s people to get born again, (John 3:7) and become disciples of Jesus. James said it like this in 1:22, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
This week and next, I will be talking about forgiveness. Look at part of the model prayer. Matt. 6:12 "forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors." Matt. 6:14 “for if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Verse 15, But, if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Now notice these instructions are in the prayer and again right after the prayer.
Next time, I will go deeper with you about forgiveness.
