On Sunday, August 31, 1986, a beautiful day with near autumn type weather, the descendants of George and Nancy Bolen Beahm held their third annual reunion at the Rappahannock County Park in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The attendees were seventy-four in number, coming from various areas of Virginia, Maryland and Ohio.
This reunion is not limited to the G. W. Beahm clan, and descendants of other early Beahm families were represented including those of the Warner Royal Beahm line of Madison County (brother of G.W.); the Abraham Beahm line of Page County, through his sons, Henry Abraham Beahm and Andrew Jackson Beahm; the Martin Beam line of Germantown, Ohio; and the Abraham Beahm line of Rockingham County through his daughter, Susanna, who married George Kline.
The program was emceed by James A. Galloway of Columbus, Ohio, who with the aid of his wife Dorothy, is collecting genealogy material on the Beahm/Beam line which originated in Lancaster County, Pa. in 1715. Names of attendees were drawn at random and those chosen told an anecdote or a bit of history remembered in their family stories. Recipes handed down through the family were submitted and these will be compiled and be available at next year’s reunion. Everyone is looking forward to experiencing the taste of “Ground hog meat loaf’ which Isaac H. Beahm of Luray claims was his mother’s favorite.
