Rappahannock, however, is still on the bottom as far as allotments go. Albemarle County would be allocated $2,833,706 in FY 1987-88 for secondary road construction. Rappahannock has the lowest allotment of any jurisdiction in the Culpeper highway district.
The county fares slightly better in funding for unpaved road construction. Those funds will jump from the present $88,555 to $180,993 under the commission’s plan. FY 1987-88 would see the funding rise to $305,715. That’s still much below Fauquier County’s $891,834 (highest in the district), followed by Albemarle County’s allocation of $870,138. It is, however, more money than Fluvanna, Greene and Orange counties received under the proposals.
The experts present at the briefing stressed that the cost figures and project analysis was based on a preliminary assessment of the commission’s report, and do not represent any final determinations.
