There are traps available which will “live trap” snapping turtles, those ravenous creatures which wreak havoc on sport fish, ducks and other unsuspecting pond dwellers.
Mrs. Sally Sharp said that anyone who is interested in ordering traps for the turtles should contact her at P. 0. Box 239, Washington, Va., 22747. She added that the price of the traps is “$35 to $40”, but that the price decreases with the quantity of traps ordered. Anyone who is interested in ordering traps or who would like more information should contact her as soon as possible.
Mrs. Sharp said that there are several individuals in the county who will provide “foster homes” for the turtles, and that she can provide referrals for placement.
