Another long-promised project was also included in the funding proposals: the widening of Rt. 211 to four lanes from Washington through Sperrvville. That project is estimated to cost $11.2 million for the 8.2 mile stretch. Since the commission’s recommendations have not yet been adopted, no timetables have been announced for completion of any of the projects identified for priority treatment by the Highway Department.
The funding for Rappahannock County projects will jump dramatically, as the following figures indicate. The current budget for secondary road construction for fiscal year 1986-87 is $120,075. If the commission's recommendations are adopted and become effective in January, the first six months of 1987 (until the end of the fiscal year on June 30), would see an additional $251,132 made available for use in the county.
