Irene P. Gray
Mrs. Irene P. Gray, 66, of Harrisburg, Pa., died August 29 at Dawson Manor Nursing Home. Harrisburg. Mrs. Gray was a native of Amissville.
While living in Harrisburg, Mrs. . Gray was a member of Mitchell Memorial United Methodist Church and the Uptown Late Start Senior Citizens’ Center.
Surviving are six daughters, Alice, of Washington, D.C.; Annie and Debbie, of Harrisburg; Lula, of Front Royal; Peggy, of Flint Hill; and Elsie, of Amissville; and four sons, Hazel, of Amissville; Herndon Eugene, of Marshall; Jimmy, of Fairfax; and Ricky, of Harrisburg.
Also surviving are a stepdaughter, Lena James, of Washington, D.C., and a stepson, Douglas Payton, of Charles Town, W.Va. A sister, Mrs. Madelyn Christian, of Front Royal, and a brother, Pete Pendleton, of Strasburg, also survive, as well as 34 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Services were held Sept. 3 at Bethel Baptist Church, Amissville, with Rev. Carter Ausberry officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Inc., of Steelton, Pa.
