He explained that troopers reach the maximum salary after seven years, and that beyond that time, regardless of years of service, their pay is the same. Only by promotion to sergeant, which involves relocating to a different area, can they receive a salary increase.
Del. Guest said that he intends to reintroduce a bill which would create another rank, between trooper and sergeant, of senior trooper and senior investigator. The new rank, he said, would reward those troopers and investigators with the most experience, and encourage them to
stay wit^the YSP instead of.seeking Higher-paying jobs elsewhere.
Calling it “a continual sales job,” Del. Guest said that he hopes to persuade the General Assembly to authorize additional game warden positions, “Especially in this area. The wardens we have are doing as good a job as they can, but with the area they have to cover and the number of hunters, we need more. We need more than one per county - they can’t work 24 hours a day,
