Due to failing health, J. W.
Critz^r of Washington, Va., has tendered his resignation as sheriff of Rappahannock County, effective January 15. He has held the office for llVfe years. Charles K. Estes of Sperryville has been appointed to fill Mr. Critzer’s unexpired term by Judge R. V. Snead. Candidates seeking the office were given written examinations by J. Maurice Dwyer, sheriff of Loudbun County, and his deputy Mr. Keyes, and the appointment was based entirely upon these tests. Others who sought the office were Roland Welch, Flint Hill, Frank Huff and Edward Hudson, Washington, and Archie Dodson of Sperryville.
