Sheriff Woodward says no charges have been placed so far in connection' with the incident. He added that the name of the individual who fired the shot is being withheld pending completion of the investigation, which is being conducted by the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Department.

holiday crashes The Virginia State Police said that preliminary reports indicate that seven persons were killed in motor vehicle crashes on the state’s highways during the Christmas holiday period. Of the seven fatalities, six were not wearing safety restraints, four were alcohol-related and one involved a pedestrian. According to the National Safety Council, the Christmas holiday period used in tabulating highway fatalities and injuries began at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, and ran through midnight Dec. 25. The State Police reminded Virginia motorists that driving defensively, not' drinking and driving, and using safety restraints are among the best ways to make it through the New Year’s holiday safely.
