The second stop was Poplar Forest, in Bedford County, Thomas Jefferson’s personal retreat. Jefferson retreated here four times each year to indulge in his favorite pursuits - thinking, studying, and reading. The estate is now owned by the Corporation for Jefferson Poplar Forest.
