The policy for employees states: “The attendance at work of employees who suffer from blood borne diseases which are infectious or contagious, such as AIDS and Hepatitis B, shall be determined by the superintendent on a case-by-case basis.” Again, a recommendation is to be given by an advisory panel which will include health department representatives, but in this instance, the final decision rests entirely with the superintendent.
Employees may be excluded from work with pay pending that decision, and to protect privacy rights.
