Make a gingerbread house
Ann Kolack of The Village Cafe is offering a class on how to create this special holiday treat on Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 5-9:30 p.m. Gingerbread, candies, icing and all the accessories you need to take home a completed gingerbread house will be provided, as well as how-to instructions so that you may continue this holiday tradition year after year. The fee is $35. Enrollment is limited so please call The Cafe at 675-3877 by Friday, Dec. 9 to reserve your space.
Culpeper Rescue Squad bazaar
The Culpeper Volunteer Rescue Squad will hold its annual Christmas bazaar and craft sale at the squad building, Route 229 north, on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a variety of unusual gift items for sale, as well as chili for hungpr shoppers. And, Santa Claus will also be there all day, so bring the children along.
Old-fashioned church bazaar
The Macedonia Baptist Church’s Youth and Adult Choir will sponsor an old-fashioned church bazaar at the church’s Raymond E. Santmyer Youth Center on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be baked goods, arts and crafts, and yard-sale items available.
'Art for Gifts' exhibit
The public is invited to Middle Street Gallery’s “Art for Gifts” exhibition beginning Friday, Dec. 2 and running through Dec. 24. Guest artists from around the Piedmont region will be included in the show, along with Gallery artists. Among the items for sale will include handpainted pillows and canvas tote bags, pottery, one-of-a-kind Christmas cards and ornaments, prints, photos, paintings and baskets. Joel Hoyer will demonstrate gold-leafing of small dinosaur Christmas ornaments throughout Saturday, Dec. 3, during Washington’s Colonial Christmas weekend. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
