Project manager Hancock said that “we’re expecting another series of meetings, probably in March.” Informational meetings on the six possible corridors first outlined by consultant Bellomo- McGee Inc. were held earlier this fall.
“We’re having a difference of opinion as to whether the next meetings will be informational, workshop meetings or public hearings. It will be more than the workshops, but how much more we have not decided.”
Mr. Pethtel committed firmly to public hearings. “We will have another round of public meetings that will have a public hearing format,” he said. “We obtain public input in all the meetings.”
Does ‘public hearing format’ mean, in fact, formal public hearings?
“Yes,” Commissioner Pethtel answered.
He said that in his opinion the meetings — and hearings — will take place in early summer. In October Bellomo McGee principal Salvatore Bellomo said that his firm would not finish its study of the short list of routes until next fall. The schedule apparently has been advanced.
