Washington State University. Associated with Washington State for nearly 20 years, Dr. Barritt conducts extension research on apple rootstock adaptation, apple orchard systems and fruit size/color optimization through canopy light distribution.
The annual meeting begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 15. General sessions and workshops run from Jan. 16-18. Apple topics include nutrition, light spur management, rootstock selection, tree training systems, fruit set and thinning, etc. Peach topics include variety assessment, tree longevity, tree thinning and marketing. Also, there will be a number of exhibits on display by suppliers to the Virginia Fruit Industry.
