Drawing, painting classes

Middle Street Gallery will hold classes for young artists on Tuesday and Thursday mornings starting July 11 through July 20. Laurie Marshall is the instructor. Painting and drawing will be offered to 5 to 10 year olds from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The cost is $20. Students may take an individual class for $5. There is financial aid. All materials will be provided. Painting in acrylics and oils for 11 to 17 year-olds will take place from 10:15 to 12:30. The cost is $25 or $7 per individual class. Most materials will be provided, and there is financial aid available. Classes will be held at the Recreation Center outside of Washington. Call 6753267 to register.

Family reunion planned

The Jenkins, Sisk and Woodard family reunions will be held on Sunday, July 9 beginning at 12 noon at the Rappahannock Park near Washington. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and are asked to bring a covered dish.

RAAC presents "In Lovers' Eyes"

The Rude Mechanicals, a troupe of actors from the Folger Theater, will present “In Lovers’ Eyes” at the Gay Street Theater July 15 at 8 p.m. The performance will be a collection of comic scenes from Shakespeare including love scenes, monologues and sonnets. The Rude Mechanicals are a group of young actors who have appeared extensively in Washington Theater and who enjoy the comic genius of Shakespeare. They are dedicated to presenting Shakespeare to a wide variety of audiences, portraying characters as distinguished as Romeo, Hermia and Lucetta, all with illuminating and witty commentary. Fans of Shakespeare and students of human nature, as well as. Lovers of light comedy will enjoy this unusual presentation sponsored by the Rappahannock Association for Arts and the Community.
