Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue contestants for honorary fire

Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue contestants for honorary fire chief, prince, and princess raised over $10,000 for the Department through donations and sale of prize tickets. It is believed to be the larger amount ever raised through the contest. Sonja Early was crowned honorary fire chief by last year’s winner Rachael Atkins. She received $25 cash and a $50 U.S. Savings bond courtesy of Rappahannock National Bank. Sonja raised $2600. Sonja is the daughter of John and Lorraine Early.

Emily Taylor was crowned princess by last year’s princess Machelle Woodard. She received $10. She raised $2232.51 for the Department. Emily Taylor is the daughter of Tom and Cheryl Taylor.

Curt Stuart was presented with a plaque and $10 for winning the title of prince; this was the first year in which the prince contest wras held. He raised $273.00. He is the son oi Curtis and Lisa Stuart.

Runners-up included: First runner-up honorary fire chief: Cindy Wharton. She received $25. She raised $2125.00. Cindy is the daughter of Debbie and Kinsey Wharton.

First runner-up princess: Erin Zeamer. She received $5. She raised $566.00. Erin is the daughter of Steve and Jan Zeamer.

First runner-up prince: Phillip Morris. Phillip received $5. He raised $176.66. Phillip is the son of Diane and Keith Morris.

Other contestants for honorary fire chief included: Second runner-up Missy Bywaters, daughter of Penny Bywaters. Third-runner up Tina Houser, daughter of Dale Jones and Paul Cole. Fourth runner-up was Angie Hayes, daughter of Hattie Sue and Brownie Hayes.

Other contestants for princess included: Second runner-up Stephanie Stuart, daughter of Lisa and Curtis Stuart. Third runner-up was Kimberly Deal, daughter of Terrie and Howard Clark.

Second runner-up for the prince title was Joshua Settle, son of Gail and Ron Settle.

Jackson District supervisor Colonel Ellis Bingham made the presentations, assisted by VFD chief Paul Poling and VFD president Carroll Settle.
