ROBERTA M. SPALDING
A lover of poetry, she was invited to compose a poem outlining the county’s history to be placed in the time capsule at the Rappahannock Library in 1983 during the county’s Sesquicentennial celebrations.
She was married to the late Robert L. Massie in 1932 and the late Frank W. Spalding in 1956.
Surviving is one son, Robert Massie, Richmond.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. Friday in Washington Masonic Cemetary with the very Rev. Jennings W. Hobson III officiating.
Pallbearers were Emory C. Russell, T. C. Lea, James F. Massie, Gregory A. Clark, Dabney Eastham, Jack Curtis and Maurice Walker.
