Communist Parties exercise control over all aspects of members’ lives and beliefs, something few of us can understand or accept. Now to review the arguments on both sides of our topic. Those who believe that Communism is collapsing base their conclusion on the following:
(1) Communist ideology is a failure ami has lost its appeal.
(2) Communist rulers’ actions admit their failures.
(3) Communists expected to win over most underdeveloped countries, the “Third World,” thereby gaining preponderant strength in the world. Here, too, the communist solution has failed or is failing.
(4) Individual human rights, freedom and dignity are concepts whose appeal grows rapidly throughout the world.
