The torrential rains which swept the county Tuesday evening were blamed as a contributing factor in a two-car accident which killed an Edinburg man.
According to Trooper S.A. Hawkins, Wayne Mcllwee, 82, was travelling north on U.S. 522 about .7 miles north of its intersection with Massies Comer. His 1984 Pontiac apparently began hydroplaning on the slick pavement, causing Mr. Mcllwee to lose control of the car.
The car crossed the center line of the roadway and slammed head-on > into a 1987 Mercedes, driven ■ by Lloyd A. Forbush, 40, of Flint Hill. Mr. Forbush’s car then ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
Mr. Mcllwee was apparently killed by the impact, and was pronounced dead on the scene by Rappahannock County medical examiner
