The past week has seen a massive buildup of American troops and material in Saudi Arabia to protect our vital interest in the “black gold.”
Amissville firemen’s festival and craft show, set for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 29 and 30, is still seeking participants. The hours are 9 to 4 on Saturday and noon to 6 on Sunday.

Besides live entertainment, classic/antique car show, and crafts, other activities planned include an “Elected Representatives” booth, petting zoo, miniature horses, health booth, BBQ, and much more.
The Amissville Ruritan Club auction on Saturday, Sept. 8y has received many good items to be auctioned, including a motorcycle in good running condition and antique furniture and mirrors. The auction begins at 5 p.m. at Stuart Field on US 211 in Amissville. Come early to browse. Food will be available. To donate items or for pickup call Charlie at 937-4072, Jerry at 937-4633 or Butch at 937-5703. President Butch Zindel said the Ruritans appreciate the community’s support in this important fund-raiser.
On Wednesday, Aug. 8, the Ruritans enjoyed their annual family picnic. Guest speaker Brad Rosenberger, Culpeper County’s Jefferson District supervisor, discussed events in Culpeper County. He encouraged everyone to call him at 937-4928 to express their opinions on issues before the Board.
