Susan W. Brown
Susan Wharton Brown, 68, of Sperryville died Aug. 13, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Brown was bom Dec. 16, 1921 in Washington, the daughter of the late Gilbert B. and Mammie Fincham Wharton. She was a member of the DAR Culpeper Minute Men Chapter and the Sperryville United Methodist Church. She was retired from Aileen, Inc.
Survivors include a son, Michael L. Brown of Washington; a daughter, Carolyn W. Brown Butler of Springfield; two brothers, Gibson L. Wharton of Washington and B.B. Wharton of Falls Church; two sisters, Rachel W. Frazier of Fairfax and Mary W. Groves of Remington and three grandchildren, Susan W. Butler, Kelly M. Brown and Michael L. Brown Jr.
Additional survivors include two brothers-in-law, Edward L. Brown of Woodville and Lewis K. Brown of Baltimore, Md. and six sisters-inlaw, Ann B. Butler of Hagerstown, Md., Sarah B. Craun of Orange, Mary B. Allison and Elizabeth B. Poferel, both of Baltimore, Md., Aline B. Johnson and Catherine B. Wayland, both of Sperryville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert W. Brown.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Sperryville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Merlin W. Shorb officiating. Interment will be in Washington Masonic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nelson Nethers, Donald Carroll, Wayne Jenkins, Troy Jenkins, Strother T. Brown, James Swindler Sr., Edward Wayland and C.B. Johnson Jr.
Memorial contributions may- be made to the Susan W. Brown Memorial Fund of Sperryville United Methodist Church.

Ivory Atkins
Ivory Swaier Atkins, age 74, of Flint Hill died Tuesday, Aug. 14 in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Flint Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Burke officiating. Interment will be in the Flint Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Atkins was bom Oct. 1, 1915 and was a son of the late Grover and Sinie Dodson Atkins of Flint Hill. He was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lonia D. Atkins of Flint Hill; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Ellen Foster of Flint Hill and two grandchildren.
Tumer-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal is in charge of the arrangements.
