• Dr. Steiner believed, however, that high school students need an entirely different kind of relationship with their teachers. Unlike elementary students who learn largely through their emotional connection to the class teacher, high school students learn because they respect their teacher’s knowledge and expertise. Consequently it is to individual subject teachers, all experts in their fields, that the education of high school students is entrusted.

Since Spring Mountain School will offer only nursery and kindergarten this coming year with plans for first grade to be added in 199192, the speaker at the workshop is an elementary specialist who is about to take his class into the sixth grade.

The program on Friday, Aug. 24, runs from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The workshop the following day, Aug. 25, is from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and participants are asked to bring a bag lunch. Both lecture and workshop are free. For additional information, call Bethany Craig at 987-8606.
