Rappahannock County residents young and old art bringing home ribbons of all colors from the 34th annua Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm Show held Iasi weekend at Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises.
With categories such as homebaked fudge, pounc cake, jellies and jams, photography, sewing, charcoa prints, farm-fattened pigs, groomed lambs, brushec cattle and goats, the Farm Show offered county resi dents competition, excitement and enjoyment.
One of the youngest to enter the show this yeai was 5-year-old Bobbie Jo Brown.
The daughter of Robert and Sarah Brown, Bobbie Jo entered an open class with a Christmas tree ornament.
“We had a clothespin and some cloth for its dress and some black yam for its hair,” she said of her entry.
“I wrote a face on it with a pencil,” she added, saying the hair was later glued to the doll.
The pre-schooler also entered a paperweight. Both entries brought home awards.
Entering with her sister and bringing home a blue ribbon for her handmade skirt, Amanda Brown, 10, entered several categories, ranging from homebaked fudge to bullentin boards, handmade bracelets, wreaths, ornaments, placemats and her own pound cake.
Comforting the summer blahs, Amanda and her mother chose the categories at random from the Farm Show booklet.
“We had to thin the list,” Sarah Brown said with laughter, adding her daughter had chosen many more than she could enter.
