Nursing test

Piedmont Technical Education Center will begin testing on Feb. 6 for those who are interested in applying to the Practical Nursing Program that begins in September. This is an 18 month course that prepares a graduate to take the National Council Licensure Examination for becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (L.P.N.). Call 703-825-0476 to register or for further information about the testing and/or the program. A $6 testing fee is required at the time of registration.

Classes to be taught

Windmore Foundation for the Arts will be holding two classes. The first is an Alternative Films Class taught by Mike Hensdill. Alternative Films is a class that deals with films that are out of the mainstream. The class runs every Sunday evening from 7-10 p.m. at a cost of $30 for members and $35 for non-members from Feb. 2 to March 8. The second workshop will be Obie Award winning actress Julie Portman of Washington, Va.’s Ki Theatre will be Conducting an Acting Workshop from 7-9:15 p.m. beginning Jan. 29 and running consecutive Wednesday evenings through Feb. 19. The workshop will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall on East Street in Culpeper. The four Wednesday sessions are available to members at $30 per person and to non-members at $35 per person. Final registration is Jan. 24. Cloverbud camp

4-H Winter CJoverbud Camp for kids ages 5-8 will be held at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center in Front Royal the weekend of Jan. 24-26. Campers will participate in several classes, which include performing arts, nature, crafts and cooking. On Sunday morning, parents are invited to join campers for a Friendship Circle and Sunday morning program. A registration fee of $45 covers lodging, meals, and supplies. Portman teaches acting

Obie-award winning actress Julie Portman of Ki Theatre will be teaching a series of four acting workshops sponsored by the Windmore Foundation of Culpeper. The workshops begin at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Culpeper. Call Paula Stafford at 703825-0671 for more information.
