Dr. Krebser replied, “That meeting was tilted.” He said those opposed to the middle school had used a “phone bank” to bring opponents to the meeting.
Mike Massie, who represents the Board of Supervisors on the planners, said the county had owned the land on which the high school is located for 15 years before the high school was built.
“There are four things that could happen,” he said. “You could buy the land and have the enrollment go up and need it. You could not buy the land and have the enrollment go up and need it. You could not buy the land and have enrollment go down. You could buy the land and not need it for eight or 10 years and have a piece of property for other county purposes, or we could stick our heads in the sand, not buy land and need it. That’s the worst possibility.”
