Employment at the Aileen plant in Flint Hill has taken a fharp turn toward better days.
About half of the 30 laid-off workers have been called back to work, and-the reduced work week, which affected 50 additional workers, is approaching 40 hours.
The plant will call back even more people next week, said plant manager Charles “Charlie” Currence, “and I hope we can keep it up.” He expects to be back to full employment “within a few weeks.”
The plant is operated by Aileeri, Inc., which sells women’s clothes in about 130 stores nationwide. About 225 people are employed at the Flint Hill plant during normal operations, which manufactures women’s blouses and other clothing for the company.
