the regulations are ignored or not enforced, as can be seem by the number of "washing machines, refrigerators. etc,, that are dumped regularly. The dumpster in its present location is very close to Indian Run, so that waste and litter makes its way into this small stream, creating a constant source of pollution. This makes it a very unsuitable site.
To "close the dump site completely is not.,the answer. Maybe a better, larger site could be found, .perimeter fence erected to prevent paper blowing into surrounding areas, a concrete apron added to facilitate drainage and easy access, and a locked gate installed so that entry is limited to times when an attendant is present. If two dump sites were kept in their present regions, could a single attendant care for both? Dividing his her hours equally between the two sites at times widely advertised, supplemented with community help and involvement. and possibly recycling bins, could be the answer.
Many residents would find it a hardship to pay for a weekly trash hauling service, and the gas and time involved in driving to,Sperry - ville or Amissville would encourage the illegal dumping of trash on roadsides, woods and in field gateways, creating an even worse eyesore than • the dump site we have at present.
I do not think residents of the county mind paying taxes for wellplanned and worthwhile, necessary services.
