in Madison County and for four years in Maryland. She is returning to teaching after taking time off to have children. She said she hopes to expand the art program in Rappahannock and noted that even with a second section of art offered at the high school this year, no eighth graders have been able to take art because both sections filled with older students. She said she has done a lot with crafts, weaving and basketmaking and hopes to use a lot of crafts in her teaching. She sees art as being essential to a wellrounded education.
Scott Schlosser will be teaching technology education at the high school. -He will have classes in building trades, materials processing, and energy and power. Originally from the Erie, Pa. area he got his bachelor’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. While there he taught undergraduates, but this will be his first year teaching public school students.
He is married and living in Front Royal. His wife, Lisa, works as a registered nurse in the Winchester Medical Center.
After two years in Indiana, he is happy to be back in the mountains again where the scenery is more like home.
Tamara Willard is another first year teacher, who will be teaching special education at the high school. She will teach learning disabled students. Some she will have for the full day and some for part of the day. She has followed her mother into the teaching profession and into special education. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of West Virginia.
