Agreeing to chair the Piedmont United Way (PUW) Campaign was not taken lightly by service provider, Beverly Bowen, director of the Rappahannock Department of Social Services, when asked to be the Rappahannock County chair.
She knew it would be a challenge raising funds in a communtiy unaware of the services support by PUW. After agreeing to chair the first United Way campaign in Rappahannock County, Ms. Bowen put together a team of volunteers to help her communicate the need for United Way support from the community.
Piedmont United Way would like to congratulate the PUW campaign volunteers, Beverly Bowen, Roger Andrews, Beverly Atkins, Rose Ann Sharp and Anna Marie Davis for helping to successfully raise $6,752.50 in the first Rappahannock County United Way campaign. This total includes all monies raised in the county at this time. Any additional monies with a Rappahannock County address will be added to this sum in the final Rappahannock County count.
One of the businesses hearing the call to help was Faith Mountain; a business not new at setting and meeting goals. Challenged to meet a goal of $1,000, the employees raised $2,138.50. Cheri Woodard, President increased that amount with a corporate gift of $1,000 making to to
