In Rappahannock County Circuit Court on Monday, four petfple were indicted by the Grand Jury for grand larceny for stealing a coffeewood log.

Remington] who is already in jail in Fairfax on an unrelated charge. They were charged with cutting down a coffeewood tree on December 4, 1994 on property bordering Route 632 in Huntly.
According to Major Ed Streapy of the Rappahannock County Sheriffs Offi e, they allegedly took a 13 inch by eight foot leg from the tree and sold it for $200 to Rob Jenkins of Jenkins’ Logging in a nearby county, 'fhey sold the log the day after it was discovered missing by the property owners in Huntly.
The four were charged with grand larceny instead of a rhisdemeanor because the value of the allegedly stolen property was worth $200 or more.
Msyor Streapy said that coffeewood, also known as pauiownia, is an extremely valuable wood. Mr. Jenkins sells the wood to people in Japan, who have many uses for it, including religious artifacts, use in rituals, musical instruments, and dowry chests.
Michael G. Robinson, 19, of Gainesville, was indicted for grand larceny for allegedly stealing 19 or more knives during the first week of December 1994 from Larry Kommes, who lives on Route 637 in Amissville. Major Streapy said that the knives are collector’s buck knives worth more than $2,700. A capias •was also issued for Mr. Robinson on Monday.
Susan Eaton Warren, 48, of Sperryville, will be tried with a jury on Feb. 17 for allegedly possessing a firearm while being a convicted felon.
Mrs. Warren was present with her attorney Mark Williams at a suppression hearing on Monday. Her attorney argued that two firearms found at her residence last August were discovered during an illegal search.
