The JV also picked up a win last Tuesday at an away game at Page County. In that 69 to 61 victory the team played its best ball in the first half, Coach Stanley said. The team relaxed in the second half and Page narrowed the lead, he said. However, the Rappahannock squad picked up the defensive pace in the fourth quarter, and “that won the ball game for us,” he said. In that game Jeff Atkins scored 23 points, Eric Smith had 18, Jason Baldwin had 12 and Jon Diggs had 11.
The volleyball teams split their two games last week losing to George Mason Monday night after picking up wins at Manassas Park last Thursday. Varsity coach Laura Conklin said her team came close to a victory Monday night. After losing thefirst/game 15 to 9, they played bettefln the second and only lost 16 to 14. They will host Clarke County Thursday.
