Del. Jay Katzen, R-31st District, visited Spring Mountain School in Washington Monday.
Sally Walker, president of the board of directors of the school, had asked him to visit because the school is interested in exploring the |>ossibility of becoming a charter school.
Del. Katzen favors legislation to allow charter schools, special public schools which would get state and local funding like regular public schools. The charters w'ould be granted by local school boards. Charter schools would be free from much state regulation.
Del. Katzen toured the school, which follows a Waldorf curriculum, with Ms. Walker, Rob Sherwood and Laurie Marshall.
