Del. Katzen Visits Rappahannock
Del. Jay Katzen (R-31st) will be at the Rappahannock County Library Friday, Jan. 3, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to address questions and concerns of the citizens of Rappahannock County.
Del. Katzen would especially like to hear your views and ideas on issues that may arise during the General Assembly Session in January, but he is also interested in leamjng of other issues that may be of concern.
Camp For Cloverbuds Set
Youth ages 5-8 can learn about the world around them through a District 4-H Camp. The theme of the camp is "The Great Outdoors." Hands on activities with an environmental focus will help youth develop an appreciation for nature and the wildlife common to this geographical area. Classes will include a nature hike where youth will examine flora and fauna, making feeders for our bird friends, examining the living creatures in an around our streams, and a guest visit from some special reptiles.
Special events will highlight the weekend and carry out the theme. The cost of the weekend is $40 which includes meals and lodging. Parents may participate with their child in this event, but need to register in advance at the same cost. The registration is firs come, first served and 70 spaces are available. The camp will be held at the Northern Virginia 4-H Center in Front Royal March 7-9.
Adult and teen volunteers are being recruited. Applications are available from your local Extension Office now, and need to be completed and received by the Northern District 4-H Center by Feb. 14. Volunteers may attend at a reduced coSt of $25, and will be required to attend a training on Friday, March 7, from 7 to 10 p.m. For more information contact Kenner Love with the Rappahannock Cooperative Extension at 675-3619.
Red Cross To Offer Classes
The Culpeper-Madison Chapter pf the Red Cross will offer the following classes in January 19917:
Adult CPR — Infant & Child CPR-First Aid on Friday, Na. 17, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $45. Cost: $45.
Babysitter Course will be offered on Saturday, Jan. 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $20. Minimum age for this class is 11 years.
Pre-registration is required. Be sure to enroll early, as space is limited. For more information on classes, recertification, or service provided by the Red Cross, call the office at 825-8611 or come by any weekday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
