This was the year the "17-yeas* locusts," which are not locusts at alC returned to Rappahannock County. *
From mid May through June the, high pitched whirring of these insects * could be heard in the woods through- ♦ out the county. Although they do little * serious damage, some residents found! the noise disturbed their* sense ol' peace in the country. *
Block Schedule I -
This fall the high school adopted 2 block scheduling. Each day students l take three or four 90-minute classes* instead of six or seven 45-minute classes.
The schedule alternates with stu* dents taking four classes one day and three different classes, with a resource block the next day.
Sewer Rate
Sperry ville customers of the sewejr system protested to little avail. Their sewer rates were increased in September from $21.50 per month to $28.50 per month. The increase was needed to meet increased operating expenses and the cost of borrowing money to install a surge tank.
