The bam, which was constructed in Colorado and then reconstructed in Amissville, has walls of galvanized steel which, says Dr. Dippert, are'easier to wash down. The stalls are 12 feet by 14 feet. The bam alsp houses a tack room, medicine room and another small room with a window to the next stall which will be equipped with a cot in case a mare needs to be watched overnight when she is close to foaling.
Both doctors grew up on farms with horses. Dr. Dippert in New York and Dr. DelVento in Connecticut. Dr. Dippert received his Ph.D. in Equine Reproductive Physiology in 1995 from Colorado State University and Dr. DelVento earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) that same year from Colorado State University
For the grand opening this weekend, the doctors are planning a tour of the facilities and slide shows. Equine Reproduction Concepts, at 111 Hackleys Mill Road (Route 645) in Amissville will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days.
