Community coalitions help avoid duplication of efforts by those in the community, as well as bring a singularity of purpose and a common message and strategy to help keep youngsters off drugs. The concept has worked in many other regions around the nation, and I am pleased to see communities here at home embracing the idea of community coalitions.
At our conference we were fortunate to have leading speakers on this topic discuss how a community coalition can be built from scratch in a region where one does not exist, and how to sustain them once they are started.
