The Architectural Review Board approved the Rappahannock Historical Society’s architectural concept to enlarge and relocate its building on Gay Street.
The plan, as presented by architect Jay Monroe, calls for the existing stcy.glure to be moved 15 feet forward on the lot and a masonry stucco addition built on part of the original foundation.
The society will seek Zoning Board approval of the plan at its next meeting.
The ARB also considered and unanimously approved three other applications.
Libby Byam, owner-operator of FosterHarris House Bed and Breakfast, plans to add a deck and railing to the house and replace an existing fence with a 42-inch white Gothic picket fence on the right side of the property.
Peter Kreyling, Kreyling Construction, represented Jo Mariea of Hunter’s Road. Mariea received approval to replace two bay windows with French doors, add a small second story balcony, and build a serpentine style palisade fence around the property to provide privacy and confine the family dog.
Board chairman Ed Barton expressed reservations about the weathered-style fence, which Kreyling estimated would vary between five and fsix feet high.
The board ultimately approved construction, but cautioned Krsyjing that the board “will initiate action" after six months to see if the fence! should be painted. Kreyling agreed. 1
Kreyling also subhiitted a request to install a new wooden stormteffeen door on the Commissioner of Revenue’s oi7tte.
