NOTICE - JUDICIAL SALE OF REAL PROPERTY
On or after June 24, 1998. proceedings will be commenced in the Circuit Court for Rappahannock County under the authority of §58.1-3965 et seq of the Code of Virginia to sell the following parcels for payment of delinquent taxes:
Parcel 1: Tax Map 38A, Parcel 11 Piedmont Magisterial District, Rappahannock County, Virginia
This land is located in Sperryville, Virginia, at the northeast corner of Rt. 211 (Lee Highway) and Rt 600 (Bryan Rd.) and has a street address of 11985 Lee Highway.
And being the same property which was acquired by Mary Walker Fitzugh (sometimes spelled "Fitzhugh" and "Fitzught") and Gladys O'Grady by deed dated November 16, 1944 recorded in Deed Book 45, page 490, as joint tenants with right of survivorship. This property passed to Gladys O'Grady upon the death of Mary Walker Fitzugh by operation of said deed; see Will Book X, page 301. The property was subsequently devised to Oral Roberts University by will of Gladys O'Grady; see Will Book 46, page 144
Parcel 2: Tax Map 20, Parcel 12 Hampton Magisterial District, Rappahannock County, Virginia
This land is 2 acres, more or less, and is sometimes referred to as being in two lots separated by Rt 628 (Fodderstack Road) Coming north on Rt. 628 out of Washington, Virginia, toward Flint Hill, immediately atler the bridge over the Rush River the road enters this property; it lies on both sides of Rt. 628 and fronts on the river.
And being the same property which was acquired by James A. Darnell and Tina (AKA "Teme") Akins Blanche Darnell, husband and wife, as tenants by the entireties with right of survivorship (see Deed Book 60 pages 310 and 213), and which passed by intestate succession upon the death of Tina (AKA "Tenie") Akins Blanche Darnell, the last of them to die, to her heirs at law. some of whom conveyed their interest to Wollie Lee Darnell (see Deed Book 106, page 176), which interest was later devised to Lewis L. Darnell, AKA "Buddy Darnell", by will recorded at Will Book Z. page 255. By operation of these documents, and the law, the owners of the property are believed to be Lewis L Darnell, and the heirs of Tina (AKA "Tenie") Akins Blanche Darnell, if they be living, and if they are dead, then their heirs, assigns, devisees, and successors in interest.
Parcel 3: Tax Map 20-A1, Parcel 27 Hampton Magisterial District, Rappahannock County, Virginia
This land is lots 9, 11, 13, and 15 which are contiguous of the Oden Subdivision, and front on Oden Ave. off Rt 626 (Jett Street) just west of the town boundary of Washington, Virginia.
And being the same property which was acquired by James Edward Freeman and Rosie Broy Freeman by deed from Blondell Jackson Smith and John D. Smith at Deed Book 77, page 446. See Deed Book 35, page 320 for plat of subdivision.
The owner of any property listed may redeem it at any time before the date ot sale by paying all accumulated taxes, penalties, reasonable attorney's fees, interest, and costs thereon, including the pro rata cost of this publication.
