fills. This road didn’t heed any local rules, it only spoke the engineer’s language of allowable grades, curves, lane width and many other impersonal factors.
This road could have been made to fit anywhere. The object appeared to be to get from point A to point B and to hell with the countryside.
I hope this stretch of roadway is an aberration, that more of the same will not be built in Rappahannock. It can serve as a reminder of the need to be ever vigilant to protect the natural landscape from insensitive “improvements”.
